A forgotten genius
FerdinandMünz
Chemist. Father. Survivor. The forgotten man behind EDTA.
As Europe slid into darkness, an Austrian chemist made a discovery that quietly changed the world: EDTA — a molecule now found in medicines, food, and shampoo. Yet Münz himself vanished from history, erased by the Nazi regime because of his Jewish roots.
Imprisoned in Buchenwald and Theresienstadt, separated from his wife, and stripped of credit for his own inventions — Münz endured it all. His discoveries lived on, shaping modern life, even as his story disappeared into silence.
Until now.
This project tries to restore the human face behind one of chemistry's greatest achievements: a journey through injustice, sacrifice, and resilience — and the determination of a man who refused to be erased by the Nazi regime.
